Public journalism: "The Story"
Posted on May 18, 2007
A new (to me) program from American Public Media is "The
Story". I mention it here, because it seems like it would be a good place
to include some voices from Indonesia and East Timor.
When I did searches of Indonesia and East Timor, I found one story related
to the tsunami of 2004 and this one story entitled "Friend
of the Forest".
In the
Archive, which numbers only 49 as of today, are a wide variety of
sometimes-quirky human interest stories -- many on health and illness, many on
Iraq and the Middle East.
The premise of the program is a kind of interlocking of stories, where
listeners add to stories they have heard or contribute to
stories-in-progress. Coincidence
and follow-up seem to be recurrent themes. The host, Dick Gordon, is an
insightful interviewer. Here's a recent one, One African Library

might have Indonesian or East Timorese counterparts
