# 9 - Clifford Geertz Bibliography
Documentation of the work of Clifford Geertz is found in the HyperGeertz@worldcatalogue
Described by its creators, Ingo Moeth and Gerhard Froehlich at the Johannes Kepler University
in Linz, Austria, as "a comprehensive, contextual and referential bibliography and mediagraphy
of all works and public statements by Clifford Geertz," it is a rich and user-friendly resource.
Before embarking, take a look at the Introduction (there are also versions of this page in
German, French, Spanish, Dutch, and Italian as well). The materials are identified as books,
articles, interviews, working papers, translations, or reprints. A helpful feature is the extensive
cross-referencing and clear indication of the language of publication (many more than the five
mentioned above, and, needless to say, including Indonesian). Much of the material is
available with a click as HyperGeertz text. In their notes, the authors pay attention to the
interactions among different media and how they interact. For example, they often provide
a mailing address for getting hold of videos of lectures, the transcriptions of the lecture, and
the title of a circulated manuscript.
Don't overlook the left sidebar. The items are arranged by decade (in the sidebar) and by year
(on the bottom of the main frame). For a brief up-to-date c.v. that shows only major works,
click on Geertz: IAS (Institute of Advanced Studies) . To return to the homepage after being
inside the catalogue, click on the arrow that says "home," And -- this is a real asset -- scroll
further down the sidebar to find the Search HyperGeertz box, and you can look up key terms.
This feature is new. It is a neat way to trace continuities and changes in his thought over the
years.
