I am currently conducting research in Yogyakarta and several locations in Jawa Tengah focusing on Muslim interpretations and uses of a variety of cultural forms, including theater, dance, music and local cultural festivals. The main aim of this project is to discern emerging frames of interpretation, discourse and association in Muslim communities under the current charged political, economic and social contexts.
